About Us

Midwest Medflight is a non-profit, hospital based rotor-wing critical care transport service serving southeast and central Michigan. We are located at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We provide inter-facility and scene response 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Ground transport services are also available when weather conditions prohibit flying. (See Weather Minimums).

Our crew configuration consists of critical care trained and experienced nurses and paramedics. Each have become proficient in their respective fields, and combine to form a team that is second to none. This provides us with flexibility, adaptability and highly skilled professionals who are dedicated to our service and the many agencies and facilities which we serve. (See Medical Crew).

We operate under protocols, and have medical direction available to us 24 hours per day. We hold bi-monthly run reviews, an educational forum held with our medical director. On-going training  includes a monthly education topic, as well as clinical time in various areas of the hospital including the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Our crews also work in the Emergency Department and the Pediatric Urgent Care when needed.

Our helicopter is owned and operated by Petroleum Helicopters, Inc., who also supply our pilots and mechanics. PHI is a world-renowned company dedicated to safety and customer satisfaction.

We are proud of our involvement in the communities we serve, and take a proactive role in teaching safety and health-related topics. (See P.R. Events) We also offer a Ride Along program, a popular way for us to work close with the many professionals we serve and work alongside. We have instructors on-staff for many healthcare related topics, including BCLS, ACLS, PHTLS.
