BK-117

We fly the BK-117 helicopter, a twin engine aircraft that was designed specifically for E.M.S. use. The BK-117 is a joint venture between Aerospatiale of France, MBB of Germany and Kawasaki of Japan. The BK-117 is commonly known as the workhorse of E.M.S. due to it's substantial payload, versatility and reliability. It's responsive hinge-less rotor system, excellent visibility and compact external dimensions allow the BK-117 to fly into and out of tight landing zones where other medium twin helicopters have difficulty. Our aircraft is owned and operated by Petroleum Helicopters, Inc.

A spacious cabin which is unobstructed offers full patient access and easy care. When necessary, the BK-117 can accommodate two patients simultaneously, with a full crew.

Clam-shell doors allow for ambulance style loading of patients, and allow us to carry our own full-sized stretcher.
